Introduction to Elm

Elm is an elegant functional language that compiles to JavaScript and brings the 'fun' back to frontend Web development. Its main selling points are its practical lack of runtime exceptions and its clean architecture!

During this full-day workshop, we are going to dive into the world of Elm – from a simple ‘Hello World’ program to more advanced SPAs, we will cover enough ground to let you start building apps right away. Among other things, we will:

• Learn about Elm’s syntax and types
• Acquire some functional thinking
• Play with server communication and the time-travel debugger
• Have fun!

Agenda:

• 8.30 - 9.00: Registration and wake-up coffee
• 9.00 - 12.00: Get started with Elm
• 12.00 - 12.30: Lunch break
• 12.30 - 17.00: More Elm!
• 17.00 - 17.15: Closing words

We’ll also take some small breaks between sessions so you can stay hydrated and refuel on pastries :)
